Parents:

As many of you have experienced and are aware, there is an unknown virus going around (not just here, but also around schools, offices, and the community in general). The symptoms can include fever, runny nose, sore throat, stomach aches/diarrhea, breathing/lung related issues, etc. Basically, medical staff are saying these are COVID/Flu like symptoms; however, everyone is “testing negative for Flu, Strep, and COVID”. The issue is that many are returning to work/school the next day instead of staying home to rest; however, this is highly contagious, and you should rest and be completely symptom free for a full 24 hours before returning to work/school. Based on this information and in light of several of our families having this issue and a couple of our classrooms starting to spread this, we are implementing new rules effective immediately for the health and safety of all children/families/staff.

  1. We will begin temperature checks for the foreseeable future. We will take a temperature at drop off, mid-day, and afternoon and as/if any symptoms appear. Temperatures are also done breakfast/after lunch and before going outside.

  2. Any temperature 99.7+ will require the child to go home and be out the rest of the day and the next day at minimum. No doctors notes will be allowed for a return “the next day” (day after being sent home).

  3. We will not administer Tylenol or Motrin without a doctor’s note while we are working to help combat this virus.

  4. If your child is showing ANY symptoms noted PLEASE do not bring them to daycare.

  5. Doctor’s notes stating a return to work/school date will no longer be accepted without a diagnosis (or reason for being seen [well checkup, sick check, etc]), as well as the date/time/signature/degree of the last temp check performed by the doctor. Doctor’s will always tell you fever free or symptom free for 24 hours before returning, but some notes are saying return next day as office staff/software is sending notes with this default…therefore, unfortunately, we cannot accept them unless we have proof of 24 hours showing no fever and please remember symptom free.

As always, our goal is to have your children here so you can work as needed, but please help us help you by remembering this… you need to work and you wouldn’t want others bringing their sick kid(s) and possibly infecting others, so please don’t do it to them. 😊

Update:

For those concerned about HIPPA, please understand that only office personnel will have information. We understand you may not want to provide this information, which in this case means you will be required to be out for a full two days before returning to school. Again, the goal is all healthy kids and families! Please DO NOT bring your kid(s) to school. Please take care of them at home for a couple of days and make sure they are well.
